Watched The Road To Coronation Street this evening, and what can I say? Everything was just spot on, and the tale of Tony Warren, his genius of an idea (to be called Florizel Street originally) and its first cast was definitely the highspot of my telly viewing this year.
Writer Daran Little did us proud.
I had my doubts about the casting of Jessie Wallace as Pat Phoenix, but she was simply brilliant - as was the rest of the cast. There were several moments in the show when I literally yelped with delight!
Congratulations to all concerned.

It was beautiful. This needs bringing out on DVD. So lovingly produced and acted... I adored every moment - and the attention to period detail was second to none. 1960 lived again.
We don't seem to get much TV like this anymore. It was a crafted production and it held me spellbound. Everybody "played a blinder" and I was sorry when it ended. So good to see young James Roache playing Bill!
Violet Carson looked rather more regal than Linda Baron in the early cast photos, but then Violet was an impossible act to imitate and Linda did very well.
